New Study Shows Majority of School Bus Stop Fatalities Were Caused by Vehicles Passing the Bus

According to national data collected by the Kansas State Department of Education's School Bus Safety Unit, six of the eight fatalities in school bus loading and unloading accidents in the 2016-17 school year were caused by a vehicle passing the bus.

These fatalities illustrate the importance of safety education for bus drivers and students, and an increased need for education about school bus stop laws for drivers around the country.

At Redflex, we're committed to protecting children at school bus stops and reducing dangerous, illegal driving behaviors. REDFLEX Student Guardian® is a specialized camera system installed on a school bus' stop arm that captures a vehicle's data if it passes a stopped school bus while children are loading or unloading - serving as a deterrent to illegally passing school buses while holding violators accountable.
