Smart Highways Magazine Taps Mark Talbot of Redflex to Discuss Comprehensive Road Management of the Future

Mark Talbot, Group Chief Executive Officer at Redflex, recently penned a feature article for the United Kingdom-based magazine Smart Highways. The publication regularly features transportation and safety industry leaders, covering topics like automated enforcement systems and driverless cars.

Talbot’s article, titled “Clearer, Cleaner and Safer,” explains how outdated roadway management systems cannot meet the transit demands of the increasingly populous cities and crowded commuter corridors of the future. Instead, Talbot writes, jurisdictions need to implement a highly effective combination of Intelligent Roadway Systems (ITS) and compliance technologies to cut down on congestion, improve safety conditions and ultimately achieve the goals outlined by Vision Zero.

These pivotal technologies, according to Talbot, include cutting-edge traffic cameras able to swiftly detect wrong-way traffic or changing roadway conditions, as well as advanced data management systems which allow decision-makers 24/7/365 clarity.
