Decrease in Crashes Prompts Chesapeake, Va. to Expand Red-light Camera Program

With a commitment to safety and proven success with photo enforcement, the city of Chesakpeake, Va. announced that it is expanding its red-light enforcement program from seven systems to 11, adding four new systems to three intersections throughout the city over the course of two months.

Chesapeake partnered with Redflex for its red-light camera program in 2010. Police noted a significant decrease in crashes at photo-enforced intersections over the years, which prompted the addition of the new systems.

The new cameras bring the city to a total of nine photo-enforced intersections.

Redflex’s red-light enforcement systems feature non-intrusive radar that captures high-resolution images and video, customizable enforcement zone configuration, a secure online interface for law enforcement review and more.
