Redflex’s Halo 2 Speed Enforcement Solution Gains IPQ Certification
Melbourne, Australia; February, 2020
Redflex has recently received certification for our Halo 2 solution from the Instituto Português da Qualidade (IPQ), the national organisation that manages and promotes the Portuguese System for Quality, including metrology.
This means the Autoridade Nacional de Segurança Rodoviária, the National Authority for Road Safety or other traffic authorities in Portugal, can now deploy the Halo 2 to enforce speed on Portugal’s roads.
Halo 2 is Redflex's most recent advancement in speed enforcement technology, and leverages Redflex’s market-leading imaging, radar detection and computing capabilities.
Halo 2 is a single pole solution comprising radar, flash, cameras and computer in a single enclosure. It can be used for both red light and speed enforcement, although Halo 2’s IPQ certification currently covers speed enforcement only.
We are delighted that the Redflex Halo 2 solution has been awarded IPQ approval, one of the most stringent in the world. Obtaining international certifications for our new products is essential for us to pursue and compete in competitive tenders globally", says Mark Talbot, Redflex CEO.
The result of years of significant research and development effort, Halo 2’s advanced design ensures maximum incident detection, including the ability to take clear driver images and produce quality incident packages for adjudication purposes. At any moment, the Halo radar can track 256 objects simultaneously with reliable lane discrimination.
The Redflex Halo 2 design simplifies installation and servicing. Lower power consumption and emissions compared with traditional systems considerably reduce environmental impacts. The unique detection algorithms and advanced camera and illumination capabilities make Halo 2 suitable for many environmental and enforcement scenarios.
